Beneficiaries
Over $150,000 has been donated to a variety of organisations since 1981, either by way of equipment purchases, funding research, or donations of money for a specific purpose.
As of 2005, the proceeds of the visits are now used to fund a postgraduate child health research scholarship offered directly by Rotaract.
Some of the previous beneficiaries include:
- Humour Foundation (Perth Clown Doctor Unit): $10,000 (provided over 250 hours of clown doctor visits to Princess Margaret Hospital for Children)
- SIDS:
- production of emergency support manual for police and emergency services personnel attending a cot death ($8,000);
- funding a postgraduate research scholarship to study the development of infant airways ($34,500);
- $15,500 donated directly to SIDS for research;
- other funds donated to SIDS via the Australian Rotary Health Research Fund ($18,900 donated over 3 years, plus an unknown amount donated over another 3 years).
- Cystic Fibrosis: $2,000.
- Bentley Hospital: an infant warmer (worth $2,650).
- Cerebral Palsy Association: $2,000 worth of equipment.
- Speech & Hearing Centre: a $2,400 amplifer for their "talkabout" program for children aged 18 months to 5 years.
- CanTeen: $1,500 worth of equipment, including a sports trailer, 2 massage tables, a 94 litre esky and a 20 litre water cooler.
- King Edward Memorial Hospital:
- special chairs for the Special Care Nurseries (worth $3,500);
- an infusion pump (worth $4,200);
- a breast pump (worth $600);
- $2,000 for the Womens & Infants Research Foundation;
- $5,000 for their Bone Densitometer appeal.
- Princess Margaret Hospital: $5,342.50 for research.
